Outreach Journey

January 2, 2019

Hello friends and family! It has been a minute since I updated you guys personally but it is important to me that you guys are aware of what I have been doing here in the Philippines!

We have just started our 5th week in Davao City and it’s unfortunately our last week here. We have been staying at God’s Light Mission Church and partnering in ministry with them. We have had the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and have incredible cultural experiences. We have spent the weeks following our ministry schedule but we have been able to fit in some personal fun adventures like hiking the countries tallest mountain!

Our first week here was spent getting to know the people, culture, and our ministry plans. However, during our time of adjustment we were still eager to get started with ministry and pursue the hearts of the people. Unfortunately, multiple team members including myself were affected by sickness but we did not let that affect our spirits. We spent the first few days attending the ministries of the church so that we could see how they operated. And then by the 4th day we were facilitating them. We continued to facilitate the ministries every week with the church. We do ministries such as bible studies, prayer meetings, youth groups, evangelism, prayer walks, school visits, and Sunday services. We do stay at the church so we are in constant fellowship with the community. Apart from the church, our team also does prayer walks in the town.

Engaging in scheduled ministry in a foreign country is quite new to me. There is so much I have learned about God through my team and through our ministry. I’ve learned that willingness is such a key aspect of life with God. Being willing has helped me adapt to changes of ministry and of life. If I it is God’s will then I’m all for it. Because trusting his ways is the best thing for me to do when I am both in and out of my element.

We continue to follow ourĀ  schedule so that the church community can enjoy great fellowship and so that we can further practice our ministry skills. We had the opportunity to encourage high school students and share testimonies with them. It was a very fun time and the students responded well with what we had to say. We have also built great relationship with the younger people of the church and community. They are great kids, who seek God and seek to serve. We will be having another school visit soon, and we are looking forward to encourage again.

On Monday, January 7th we will be leaving Davao City and heading 4 hours west to Maguindanao. It is a different province that has a prominent Muslim influence. We will be there for 2 and a half weeks until we fly back to Brisbane on January 24th. We are excited to see a new area and experience new things but we will for sure miss our friends here. We plan to spend our last week being intentional with everything we say and do with them so that we can insure we leave them with good memories and spiritual knowledge.

Ill putout another update before I leave the country so stay tuned! Thank you all for your prayers and support. And Happy New Year!

Take it EZ
